Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer hourly (pay-as-you-go) flight time?

No. AV8R Unlimited operates exclusively on prepaid aircraft block hours.

This ensures predictable scheduling, consistent maintenance, and fair access for all pilots.

Why do you require prepaid block hours?

Prepaid blocks:

  • Reduce no-shows and last-minute cancellations
  • Allow us to maintain the aircraft properly
  • Provide more reliable access for active pilots

This structure supports safety, availability, and operational discipline.

What flight training options do you offer?

We offer 10-hour and 25-hour prepaid flight training blocks (wet aircraft rental).

Instructor services are contracted and paid separately. Rate is $50.00 per Flight Hour.

What is included in “wet” aircraft rental?

Wet aircraft rental includes:

  • Aircraft use
  • Fuel
  • Routine maintenance and reserves

Instructor fees are not included and are paid directly to the instructor via Zelle, Cash, or other agreed upon method.

What is time building, and who is it for?

Time building is designed for licensed pilots who want efficient, predictable access to an aircraft.

Our time-building option is a 25-hour dry aircraft block, meaning fuel is paid by the pilot.

Instructor time is optional and arranged separately if needed.

Do block hours expire?

Yes. All prepaid aircraft blocks are valid for 12 months from the purchase date.

This encourages consistent flying and ensures availability remains fair for all pilots.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

Late cancellations or no-shows will be deducted from the remaining block balance.

How do I schedule flights after purchasing a block?

After purchase, you’ll receive instructions, via email, to request flights through Flight Circle.

All scheduling is based on availability, weather, and maintenance status.

Can I choose my instructor?

Yes. Instructors operate as independent contractors.

You may work with an instructor of your choosing, subject to availability and aircraft access.

Is AV8R Unlimited a Part 61 or Part 141 school?

AV8R Unlimited operates under Part 61 using a structured, syllabus-based training approach similar to Part 141 programs.

This allows us to maintain consistency and standards while retaining the flexibility to tailor training to each pilot’s schedule and learning pace.

Where are you located?

AV8R Unlimited operates in the Glendale / Phoenix area, serving pilots throughout the Valley.

For added convenience, training flights may be arranged at select East Valley airports when coordinated in advance. In these cases, aircraft repositioning time to and from the requested airport is billed accordingly.

What certifications can be trained for in a Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA)?

AV8R Unlimited conducts training in a Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA) using a structured, syllabus-based approach under Part 61.

Depending on the student’s goals and the aircraft’s equipment, training may be provided toward the following certifications and ratings:

  • Sport Pilot
  • Private Pilot
  • Instrument training
  • Commercial Pilot
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
  • Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII)

Training is tailored to the individual pilot’s objectives, experience level, and regulatory requirements. Certain certificates or ratings may require specific endorsements & experience to complete.

Are overnight flights allowed for time building?

Overnight use may be approved on a case-by-case basis, based on pilot qualifications, operational considerations, and current flight schedule demand. Approval is not guaranteed and must be coordinated in advance.

What maintenance is performed on AV8R Unlimited's aircraft?

Our aircraft are maintained to a high standard, including 50-hour oil changes, 100-hour inspections, annual inspections, and any additional required maintenance. All work is performed or coordinated through a trusted, on-field FAA-certificated A&P to support prompt attention and minimize downtime. Maintenance timelines may vary based on scope of work, parts availability, and A&P scheduling.

Do you guarantee checkride availability or DPE scheduling?

No. Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) availability is controlled by the FAA and independent examiners. AV8R Unlimited does not guarantee checkride dates but will assist with preparation, endorsements, and coordination when you’re ready.

Availability and timing ultimately depend on regional DPE schedules and demand.
